The Gómez-Suárez Group

Sebastian Govaerts

Sebastian was born in Santiago (Chile) and studied chemistry in Leuven (Belgium). He graduated with a chemistry degree (MSc) from the University of Leuven in 2018. During his master studies, he spent one year working on radical oxyfunctionalisations in flow in the group of Prof. Timothy Noël at Eindhoven University of Technology (The Netherlands) as an Erasmus+ trainee. He then moved to Manchester (United Kingdom) to carry out doctoral studies on radical-based strategies for C–N bond formation under the supervision of Prof. Daniele Leonori at the University of Manchester, and from 2022, at RWTH Aachen (Germany). Sebastian joined the Gómez-Suárez group as a postdoc in 2023 with a Walter Benjamin fellowship from the German Research Foundation (DFG).
